The exhibition “Essences of BAD” presents, in an atypical and unique format, a section of the art collection of Taguspark – City of Knowledge. Associated with the history of MAU – Taguspark Urban Art Museum, and through photography, fragments of the graffiti that are at the origin and development of Taguspark’s art collection are exhibited. Produced in the garages of the City of Knowledge and now also exhibited in the atrium of Taguspark’s Central Nucleus, these mural paintings reveal the individuality of their creators, as well as Taguspark’s avant-garde, bold and contemporary vision.
Graffiti is at the genesis of MAU when, in mid-2020, Taguspark received an expression of dissatisfaction from one of its customers regarding the maintenance of one of the car parks. This action led to an artistic revitalization in the space, however, it was produced in the wrong garage. Such a situation, fortunately, caused the multiplication of graffiti in Taguspark, determined the origin of MAU and, consequently, the assiduous investment of the City of Knowledge in contemporary art.
The option to exhibit fragments of mural paintings is an invitation to the public to visit the various underground galleries that serve as a canvas for various artistic interventions that coexist in close proximity to the scientific and technological base of Taguspark. This nucleus of images reveals interventions by artists such as Paulo Arraiano, Gonçalo Mar, The Caver, among others, presenting the underground art of Taguspark’s collection.
“Essences of MAU” will be on display at the Central Nucleus of Taguspark until March 9 and access is free.
