“Wonderland”, by Maísa Champalimaud, is the next exhibition to be presented at the Central Nucleus of Taguspark within the scope of MAU – Museum of Urban Art. Opening on October 3rd, the space hosts the artist’s exhibition that explores new creative processes based on the systematic and monochromatic use of oil pastels.
Maísa Champalimaud consistently works on perfecting a technique, in a kind of obsession, fascination and fixation that defines her path over the last ten years. In a universe of colorful shades of lime green, reddish pink, lilac, blue and yellow that reflect her creative energy, the exhibition celebrates the act of experimentation.
The body of work to be presented at Taguspark represents a creative phase that was originally started when Maísa used oil pastels over photography. At the time, he was inspired by travel in order to reveal landscape images that captured, under a photographic eye, figures among vegetation, mountains and Asian markets. Over time, and along with trial and error, Maísa insisted and improved the technique, experimenting with it on different surfaces.
This exhibition reflects the aesthetics of colors and sensations of the plastic artist, inspired by the trips she made, the affective memories and her evolutionary path that culminates in the closure of a cycle. A path that spontaneously completed itself.
With free admission, “Wonderland” is part of the context of MAU – Museum of Urban Art, which aims to promote critical thinking and contribute to the well-being of those who visit and work in the City of Knowledge.
