MAU – Museum of Urban Art of Taguspark – City of Knowledge, in partnership with SNBA – National Society of Fine Arts, launches the first call to host individual and/or collective Artistic Residencies.
The call, running until November 3rd, seeks to promote artists who want to continue their artistic productions and contribute to the development of contemporary expressions in Taguspark – City of Knowledge.
To apply for the MAU-SNBA Artistic Residencies, the artist can access the respective regulation, present their portfolio, themes to work on and motivations, and send it to ra@taguspark.pt.
Located in the heart of the most civic Park in Europe, the MAU-SNBA Artistic Residencies last three months, with the possibility of extension, and presuppose the execution of a specific artistic project or the continuity of the artist/collective’s body of work, following a theme previously presented in the application.
With the capacity to welcome artists who work with different forms of expression, the MAU-SNBA Artistic Residencies show the disruptive, bold and urban spirit that is lived daily in the City of Knowledge. In order to generate new dynamics and artistic stimuli, it is possible for residents, during their stay, to organize events open to the public.
For Eduardo Baptista Correia, CEO of Taguspark, “The creation of the artist residency program at Taguspark contributes to the consolidation of our path in the world of contemporary art. Support for artistic creation, whether individual or collective, is at the genesis of MAU – Taguspark Museum of Urban Art. Working with the SNBA is a privilege, a source of inspiration and teaching.”
João Paulo Queiroz, president of the National Society of Fine Arts, points out that “These Artistic Residencies, to be held in a place like Taguspark, allow us to create opportunities for emerging and non-emerging artists, while making it possible to expand the access of the community and the Park’s workers to other forms of artistic expression”.
