Taguspark will now have a solar power plant with the capacity to produce more than 1GWh of electricity annually. The project in the largest Science and Technology Park in Portugal, located in Oeiras, is being developed in partnership with Galp’s new company for solar self-consumption – EI – Independent Energy – and is based on the installation of 1,566 solar panels from technology company LG in seven buildings of taguspark’s Business Center for Innovation and Technology, with a total installation power exceeding 700kWp.
The project foresees that 97% of the energy produced is used for self-consumption in taguspark facilities, which will allow this business center to reduce its dependence on the electricity grid by 23% and avoid the emission of 251 tons of CO2 per year.
“The Taguspark project proved to be a great challenge, mainly due to its complexity, and a test of the technology that EI has been developing, which we call Eitech2perform, and which allows us to achieve a high degree of optimization and competitiveness. It is the confirmation that we are able to meet the requirements of the most demanding customers”, says Ignacio Madrid, CEO of Energia Independente.
“This project is another important step of Taguspark towards the sustainability of the building. A path that is perfectly defined and that we will continue without hesitation, which are part of the thousands of people who work daily and frequent the public and private spaces of Taguspark. Our Park aims to be a civic reference at European level. In order to achieve this, four pillars of action were laid out, among them, of course, energy independence. Contributing to decarbonisation is an obligation we assume in order to deliver to future generations a more balanced, clean and environmentally sustainable planet. Our levels of demand are as high as the greater the challenges we embrace. We want to be the most Civic Park in Europe.”, says Eduardo Baptista Correia, CEO of Taguspark.
