The garden lakes of taguspark’s Central Core building feature a new resident, a “giant duckling” dressed in mirrors of his name Induck’Tion. A project by the artist Portuguese OSIR, which now joins the urban art script of the largest Science and Technology Park in the country, and which can be visited daily in Oeiras.
The Sculpture Induck’Tion is part of the #REFLETE osir project, in which the artist works from vulgar, improbable and unexplored materials. The featured material is the mirror.
This work can already be visited in the lakes next to the Central Core of Taguspark, now part of the script of the Museum of Urban Art in full development in this park, and which already has several works by Portuguese artists, including Bordalo II, Clo Burgard, Youthone, Gonçalo Mar, The Caver, Styler and Rethorica Intervention. There is much to see in the largest national Science and Technology Park, located in Oeiras.
In the words of OSIR, Induck’Tion has as its starting point the values of Taguspark, with a special focus on two aspects that it considers essential for any human being, “Happiness” and “Well-being”.
For the realization of this proposal, the artist Portuguese retreated to the child’s imaginary and to an object that could convey the feelings of happiness and comfort that only our own home, our port of shelter, can achieve.
The iconic rubber duckling is this object, with which many had the pleasure of playing, and those who did not have this opportunity have already crossed paths with some, recalling happy moments of their childhood.
In this case a duckling coated with mirrors not only so that it can dissolve in the architectural space, but also so that those who come across the work can be part of its composition.
The piece is a floating sculpture that, despite being “anchored”, may have some freedom of movement to gain “a life of its own”. According to the artist, his name Induck’Tion is attributed during the construction of the piece and gains more and more meaning at the present moment when the current way of life is induced to us.
Induck’Tion reflects the current moment and when visited in person counterbalances the social feeling that one lives, transmitting joy and well-being.
The artist OSIR was born in 1983, in the District of Lisbon, municipality of Amadora. The taste for drawing and art in general emerged very early and over the years this relationship grew and became more solid, until it became part of their day-to-day life.
