PHC Software is a Portuguese multinational that specializes in management software. Founded in 1989, it now has over 35,000 customers in more than 25 countries. Today it is recognized for having a product that adapts to the needs of companies, and a network of more than 400 certified partners who provide close and specialized support.
What is PHC’s mission and distinguishing factors?
We make management software that adapts to our clients’ needs to bring speed to their business. This is how we fulfill our mission: Better Management for Happier People. For customers, it takes the form of accelerating business through software. Internally, it is focused on creating the best work experience, which we call Best Experience at Work.
Why did you choose the City of Knowledge as the location for the House of Digital Business?
We wanted to go beyond the conventional idea of a company. That’s why we created a true House of Digital Business. Here, our employees have all the conditions they need to be highly productive and with a high level of well-being. The House of Digital Business represents a new working concept. What is this concept that has its headquarters in Taguspark?
The Best Experience at Work concept represents PHC Software’s ambition to be the benchmark for working in Portugal. How does PHC attract talent to/from Portugal?

In terms of current PHC projects, can you highlight or reveal any projects that are in the pipeline or is secrecy really the lifeblood of the business?
We have been carefully studying the evolution of accounting. We even carried out an in-depth study of the state of the accounting sector in Portugal, where we tried to understand what difficulties accountants have and how we can bring value through our software. This allowed us to conclude that many of the obstacles that accountants have in their day-to-day work, such as access to client documents or wasting time on routine tasks, can be solved with software.
Today we have software in our PHC GO that prevents errors and warns the accountant when they happen. Even the most common error, which is “human forgetfulness”. It’s intelligent accounting that works almost invisibly. This eliminates duplication of work, the most common mistakes and makes the whole system very fast. Technology can help accounting enter a new era.
Within your sector of activity, can you highlight any ongoing trends to which you are responding?
The future of the sector will be very much about automating processes, where the cloud and artificial intelligence help to make companies more agile. This is becoming transversal in companies and all their teams. For example, in accounting, an accountant has incredible value, which comes from their ability to interpret data to help the business in the financial and accounting area. But much of the routine work that the accountant does, such as bank reconciliation or error analysis, can be done by artificial intelligence, and we can have the system reconcile directly with the bank, dealing with what has been received, leaving the accountant to control deviations and validate the information. And we already have all this in PHC’s cloud software, PHC GO.
In a sentence, what does it mean to be PHC?
Being PHC means living our values every day. It’s trying to have a positive impact on society, it’s wanting to constantly grow and it’s having a relaxed but professional attitude. All this so that we can have the Best Experience at Work.
What are the prospects for the future in the medium and long term?
We are focused on improving our customers’ lives every day with our software. We want to continue achieving good financial results, as we have done in recent years. And we want to continue promoting good management as an engine for greater happiness in companies and greater productivity among employees.
